Does a Lever posting name the hiring manager?
No. Lever records a hiring manager and a posting owner against every job, and the public page shows neither. What it does show, directly under the title, is one line most applicants skip: the location, the department and team, and the commitment. That line is the best clue any applicant tracking system puts on a public page.
What does the line under the job title tell you?
On a posting it reads something like this:
Berlin / Engineering â Payments Platform / Full-time / Hybrid| Part | What to do with it |
|---|---|
| Location | Filter the company's LinkedIn People tab to that city. |
| Department | Tells you which executive the role rolls up to. Useful only as a fallback. |
| Team | The search term. âPayments Platformâ plus âEngineering Managerâ usually returns one or two people. |
| Commitment and workplace | Nothing about the manager. Worth matching in your note if you are applying from another city. |
Not every company fills in the team. When the line stops at the department, go up to the board at jobs.lever.co/acme and see how the company groups its openings there.
How do you find the hiring manager for a Lever job?
- Copy the team name exactly. Companies name teams in their own vocabulary, and people repeat that vocabulary in their LinkedIn headlines.
- Search the company's People tab for the team name. Then look for the manager-level title among the results. The steps are on the LinkedIn page.
- Check the board for sibling roles. Open
jobs.lever.co/acmeand filter by the same team. Two or three openings on one team point at one manager building it out. - Fall back to the department head. At a company under a couple of hundred people, the head of the department is close enough to the decision to forward your note to the right person.
A Lever posting lives at jobs.lever.co/acme/ followed by a long identifier, or at jobs.eu.lever.co for companies hosted in Europe. A link ending in /apply is the application form for the same role, and either one identifies the posting.
Of the 2,086 job postings looked up on DearHiringManager between 2026-05-24 and 2026-08-24, 28 (1.3%) were Lever postings. The full split by source, with the method, is in the Outreach Index.
What do you send once you have the name?
One short email, three to five business days after you apply, that names the role and the team the way the posting does. Using their own team name back to them is a small signal that you read the posting rather than a list. Structure and examples: how to write an email to a hiring manager. For turning the name into an address: how to find out who the hiring manager is. Roles posted through Greenhouse need a slightly different route.
The shortcut is the same on every job site. Paste the Lever posting URL into the hiring manager finder and it returns the name, a verified work email and the LinkedIn profile of the person who owns that role, in about a minute.
Questions
Where is the team name on a Lever posting?
In the single line directly under the job title, between the location and the commitment. It reads as department, a dash, then team. Some companies fill in only the department.
How do I see all of a company's roles on Lever?
Shorten the address to jobs.lever.co/company. The board groups openings by department and team and has a filter for each.
Is the /apply link a different posting?
No. It is the application form for the same role. The address without /apply is the description.
The posting shows only a department. What then?
Search the department head on LinkedIn. At companies of the size that typically use Lever, that person either is the hiring manager or sits one step from them.
