How to find the hiring manager on LinkedIn

The person under “Meet the hiring team” is whoever posted the job, and that is usually a recruiter. The hiring manager is the person the role reports to. Take the team and reporting line from the posting, search that title in the company's People tab, and narrow by location.

What does “Meet the hiring team” actually show?

The person who posted the job, plus anyone they chose to add. LinkedIn shows the section only when the poster agreed to display their profile, so plenty of postings have no such section at all. When it is there, read the title before you write. A Talent Acquisition Partner or a Technical Recruiter runs the process and is the wrong reader for a note about the work itself. A Head of Design on a design role is the person you want.

How do you find the hiring manager when the posting shows nobody?

  1. Read the posting for the reporting line. Look for “reports to”, “you will work with” and the team name. One of these is in most descriptions, usually in the first two paragraphs.
  2. Open the company page and go to People. Type the title you just found into the search box. With no reporting line, use the level above the role: a Senior Analyst reports to an Analytics Manager or a Head of Data.
  3. Narrow by location. At a company with several offices, the manager usually sits where the role is based. The People tab has a “Where they live” filter for exactly this.
  4. Check recent posts. Search the company name plus “hiring” and switch to Posts. A manager who wrote about the opening has told you who they are.

That takes ten to fifteen minutes per role and ends with a name, not an address. If the name you land on is a recruiter after all, that changes what you write rather than whether you write: hiring manager vs recruiter.

Which LinkedIn link is the job posting?

The one that looks like linkedin.com/jobs/view/4012345678. A link that contains /jobs/search or /jobs/collections is a results list with one job open in a side panel, and it points at a different job the next time the list reorders. To get the real link from a results page, take the number after currentJobId= in the address bar and put it after /jobs/view/.

LinkedIn is the largest single source of this mistake in our own data. Of the 166 links our tool turned away in the Outreach Index window because they were not a single posting, 73 came from linkedin.com.

Of the 2,086 job postings looked up on DearHiringManager between 2026-05-24 and 2026-08-24, 862 (41%) were LinkedIn postings. The full split by source, with the method, is in the Outreach Index.

How do you get from the name to an email?

LinkedIn rarely gives it to you. A profile shows an email only when the member made it visible, and by default that is to direct connections. The two routes that work are the company's address pattern applied to the name and then verified, or a tool that does both steps. The manual version is laid out in how to find out who the hiring manager is.

The shortcut is the same on every job site. Paste the LinkedIn posting URL into the hiring manager finder and it returns the name, a verified work email and the LinkedIn profile of the person who owns that role, in about a minute.

If you would rather stay inside LinkedIn, a connection request with a note is the fallback. What to put in it: what to message a hiring manager on LinkedIn. For postings you found elsewhere, the method differs: Indeed, Workday.

Questions

Is the person in “Meet the hiring team” the hiring manager?

Sometimes. The section shows whoever posted the job and anyone they added, and the poster is usually a recruiter. Check the title: a recruiter or talent partner runs the process, a team lead or department head makes the decision.

Why do some LinkedIn jobs not show a hiring team at all?

The section appears only when the poster chose to display their profile on the job. Many companies post from a shared recruiting account or leave it off, so its absence tells you nothing about the role.

Can I find the hiring manager without LinkedIn Premium?

Yes. The company People tab, its search box and the location filter all work on a free account. Premium adds InMail, which matters only if you plan to message inside LinkedIn rather than by email.

What if the People tab returns three possible managers?

Pick the one whose own profile describes the work in the posting. If you still cannot choose, write to the more senior person, name the exact role, and let them forward it.

Which LinkedIn job link should I copy?

The one containing /jobs/view/ followed by a number. Links containing /jobs/search or /jobs/collections are result lists. Take the number after currentJobId= and put it after /jobs/view/ to get the posting.
